New Zealand business confidence down last quarter

  • Although last quarter’s New Zealand business confidence data deteriorated slightly, the New Zealand dollar still managed to edge slightly higher against the US dollar. The New Zealand Institute of Economic Research yesterday reported that its business confidence index ticked down to 23 in the first quarter of 2015, from 24 in the previous quarter.
  • Singapore’s central bank surprised markets on Tuesday by holding off from further monetary policy easing. It stated that an improving outlook for global growth would underpin the country’s trade-reliant economy.
