Starting off his working life as a sail and ski instructor, Alex decided to enjoy life on the sea during the summer and on the slopes during the winter. He received a degree from London South Bank University in 2006 and after his exciting jobs in the tourist industry and a full season of playing rugby in London, he decided it was time to settle down in and get involved in the finance industry.

Alex is a gentleman – he’s kind, easy-to-talk to and knowledgeable about the industry. His relaxed style is in contrast to his quick mind and his ability to produce solutions to problems. He’s eager to help clients and get the public to realise the incredible service provided by Smart.

Hailing from Brunel University and achieving a Masters in International Money, Finance and Investment in 2007, Raj joined Smart in an effort to test out his knowledge and expand on his previous employment successes. Raj's meticulous dress sense, quiet manner and no-nonsense attitude easily help people to know that he means business. He's a finance person through and through – eager to assist individuals or company clients to make their money work harder.

When asking Nick, 'Why do you like to work in the Currency Exchange industry?' he lights up and explains his passion for the macro side of economics. Nick states, ‘it’s fascinating that the Government or a bank can make an announcement and the exchange rates start to move instantly – the market never stops and in order to keep our clients informed it is important to stay on top of global news and market analysis'

With a Law degree from Exeter and further legal training at Law School in London, Nick brings a very detailed and analytic perspective to the team. Aside from assisting clients to get an outstanding service, he works behind the scenes to read and analyse market reports relaying them to other Smart team members along with heading up the customer service training.

In his spare time, Nick plays rugby and holds the highly esteemed Yachtmaster qualification which he puts into practice racing yachts in the Solent.

Joining Smart with a background in the fast moving Derivatives Market, Ravi Viroomal, is experienced in trading European Government Bonds and Foreign Exchange Markets. This coupled with his degree in Economics from the University of Kent set him up in good stead to join the Smart Corporate Desk. Ravi enjoys the fast and dynamic world of currency exchange and international payments and finds working with business clients most rewarding.

Ravi explains, “Helping a Smart client is greatly satisfying, there is no better sense of reward than knowing we have saved our clients on their foreign exchange costs and have provided them with solutions that effectively manages their Foreign Exchange needs”. Ravi is professional, intelligent and very eager to assist any organisation that wants to save money and avoid risks when it comes to making and/or receiving international payments.

As a work-study intern at Smart during 2007, David started out on the bottom and soon became irreplaceable. After returning to Staffordshire University and graduating in 2009, Smart eagerly welcomed him back as a full time employee. His degree is in Business Management and Entrepreneurship, so there will surely be some interesting new ideas bouncing about soon.

Although David looks like he’s 12 and is loved by every grandmother in the UK, his kindness, knowledge and helpfulness are appreciated by all that come in contact with him. He’s genuine and seriously excited about making his mark in the business world.

With a degree in Spanish, a love for politics and foreign policy polished off with a solid interest in currency exchange, James is a guy that takes things seriously. One to enjoy his 'craft', James’s charm, kindness and dedication to serve his clients shines througout the day.

Originally from Kenya, Balraj proudly represented the country in squash and has had an interesting past working in finance for various companies. Previous to Smart, he enjoyed time working for one of the UK’s largest residential developers. As with most finance people, Balraj is always very busy and can’t be disturbed when working with his reconciliations, caring for incoming funds and making sure outgoing funds are sent at the correct time. It’s a very fast-paced job and fortunately Balraj leads a great Accounts Support Team.
